Growing up south of Rollag, Minnesota, it was common to see dense forests that provided homes to wildlife and people alike. These mighty trees offered shelter from inclement weather and shade from the scorching summer sun.
During high school in environmental science, we managed a 15-acre property for invasive species.
After high school, I started working as an arborist and landscaper. This job taught me not only how to properly remove trees, but also how to replace them and cater to each tree’s specific needs. Over the next fourteen years, my landscaping career flourished, expanding my knowledge and experience.
My career abruptly halted due to an accident, forcing me to reconsider my path. During recovery, I pursued a degree in construction management.
This is where my wife and I crossed paths. After completing college, we searched for a place to settle down. Although we bought a house in West Fargo, ND, it never felt like home. Our hearts yearned for the countryside. We were married in June 2021, and finally, in the winter of 2021-2022, we found our ideal location. This marked the beginning of Green Valley Nursery LLC.
In 2022, we relocated to rural Lake Park, MN, settling on a 30-acre homestead with 5 acres of established trees and the rest as tillable cropland. Feeling unsatisfied with the setup, we embarked on the ambitious task of reforesting the remaining 25 acres. Over 8,000 trees were meticulously hand-planted and nurtured. This endeavor sparked the idea of establishing a locally owned nursery. Having refined our skills in planting and caring for trees, we were determined to continue.
We were blessed with our son, Lee Alexander, in March 2024. The story of Green Valley Nursery is just beginning, and the future looks promising. We eagerly anticipate what lies ahead. With ambitious plans and a steadfast commitment to supplying locally grown, healthy trees to the area, we are poised for success.
